We joined David and Bex up in the North Eastern corner of CA. Near Klamath Oregon. Lava Beds has many caves and history to explore. The kids loved it! even though it got down into the lower 20's, pretty cold for the girls, but they survived and even got their Jr. Ranger badges! :)
